MARCH 18 — The second anniversary of the March 8, 2008 General Election has been marked by defections and sackings of Parti Keadilan Rakyat MPs and former leaders.

It is unfortunate that this took place while Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is facing another round of persecution at the courts.

Defections and sackings are nothing new in Malaysian politics.

DEC 31 — It seems like all we can think about in Malaysia these days is race and religion. We feel threatened by other races, and feel insecure about the future of our own community. It’s true these are serious concerns but our obsession often means that we forget that there are things that will affect us all no matter who comes up on top, if such a thing is even possible.

NOV 27 — Pada 21 November lalu saya dijemput Institut Kajian Dasar untuk bersama-sama YB Datuk Husam Musa dan YB Teng Chang Khim di dalam forum membincangkan Sistem Dua Parti dan Hubungan Negeri-Persekutuan. Forum tersebut sebahagian daripada Simposium Kebangsaan IKD tentang Pakatan Rakyat dan Bermulanya Sistem Dua Parti di Malaysia.

Husam menyentuh tentang hipokrasi Kerajaan BN dalam hubungan Kerajaan Negeri dan Persekutuan, sementara Teng pula mengusulkan agar prinsip Federalisme ditafsirkan dengan lebih luas sesuai dengan perkembangan semasa.

NOV 7 — I am currently in Britain meeting Malaysians and talking to them about politics. I was also recently in the United States, at the Bay Area in California, for a similar purpose

It was heartening to see the strong level of interest that Malaysians residing in both countries showed in the political situation back home, especially after the last general election. They asked the usual questions: like whether Pakatan Rakyat can win in the next polls, and when will we resolve our internal difficulties.

Sept 16 — Perhimpunan Khas Sambutan Hari Malaysia di Dewan Jubli Perak Selangor baru sahaja selesai.

Sebagai anggota jawatankuasa penganjur program tersebut, saya gembira program tersebut yang dihadiri wakil rakyat, pegawai kerajaan dan ahli majlis daripada segenap pelusuk Selangor berlangsung dengan baik.
