Zambry is ‘thankful’, hopes crisis over

By Clara Chooi

IPOH, Feb 9 — Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, who was declared the lawful mentri besar by the Federal Court this morning, says he is “thankful” and hopes all Perakians will accept the decision.

“Hopefully all parties can accept this decision and this political crisis in Perak can finally be put to rest,” he said in an SMS statement.

He added the decision has further strengthened his resolve and that of the other adminstrators in the Barisan Nasional government to bring peace and development to Perak.

The decision, which took the apex court three months to prepare, is expected to put an end to the Constitutional crisis that has plagued the state for over a year.

Despite this, however, The Malaysian Insider understands that the Pakatan Rakyat and Nizar himself have no intention of backing down quietly.

When contacted, Nizar said that the Perak PR would be holding a special meeting at 8pm tonight to discuss today’s outcome.

A press conference will follow at 10pm, he said, adding that he was presently on the way back to his home in Sungai Rokam, Ipoh.
